My Expressions.

Photography is a way of life for me. Looking through that lens creates an entirely new world. I can create whatever I want from anything that lays in front of me. I can make it realistic, or surreal. Photography also captures memories that otherwise can slip right on by. Photos create everlasting moments of some of the happiest days of our lives...

The Owens RiverStone Resort Wedding

It was an early fall Saturday evening. September 21, 2013. As the morning wore on, we  realized the weather wasn't going to be all sunshine and beautiful for us. That didn't wear down on anyone though. The wedding party surged forward and soon into the evening, the weather began to play nice.

The wedding was set at the beautiful RiverStone Resort & Spa in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The wedding party was full of close friends and family, spanning to 24. The love was most certainly in the air. Brittney and LA Owens themed their wedding with a deep red, light blue/turquoise, and black to create an elegant feeling.

One of my favorite moments was definitely when Brittney and LA prayed just before the ceremony. He kept his back so as to not see her. It was a moment of completely uninhibited true love.

There was plenty of fun with this wedding though. Here are a couple shots from the unforgettable reception:

The most important piece of this entire day was the joining of two families, and uniting the love these two have for each other. It was a truly blessed day.

Sweet Young Love

So, once again life has gotten in the way of me and all that I want to do. I haven't edited nearly all the "new" photos I've taken. But I'm looking forward to it. However, I do have a session to show. This session is for Chelsea and Bradley. They wanted fall photos so we went to downtown Jonesborough and took some fun shots. As always, I want to super critique myself and say I could have done better but I still believe I got some great shots.
This first one is actually one I like a lot. I was excited to be able to pull out only the red. Although, to me the contrast seems to fall flat.

They didn't know I was taking photos of them practically the entire time.

I guess I like shots like these :)

This is one of the favorites of both me and Chelsea. They were so natural. I believe this natural "pose" is better than any pose I could have or tried to stick them in.

This was actually more of an "accidental shot" I just kept snapping and this is one of the ones that followed. It was kind of a funny sequence.

So, that was a really fun October day. Downtown Jonesborough is one of my all time new favorite places to photograph. I plan to go back there soon.

Edit Happy

Wow, it's been much longer than I planned on since I last posted. Guess that's what happens when life gets ahead of me. Well, tonight I was checking on my Deviant Art page and I realized that one of my photos was simply too edited. It was so yellow and bright and green. It just had to be toned down. So it went from:

To this, much more toned down. I think it improved greatly. Even before, it was one of my favorite photos. Now, it's even more so!

Buried Beneath Photos

Well, I have been working on editing the latest wedding photos(taken last Saturday). I am almost halfway and I'm getting burned out. Don't get me wrong, I love editing photos and I love wedding photography. But 400 photos is a lot to tackle in a short amount of time. So, I decided to take a little time and edit a couple other photos. Like when I took them, these photos were edited in the spur of the moment during a hectic time.
We were standing on the side of the very busy I-40 obviously right under this sign. The reason to stand here? Because the vehicle we were riding in broke down. Turns out when a crack happens to the radiator, anti-freeze sprays all over the windshield like a shaken glass of soda.

Yet, even with standing on the side of this crazy highway under the blistering hot sun, my beautiful best friend still manages to strike a pose. And a stunning one at that. :)

While the editing I used on these photos was quite substantial, I am very pleased with how they turned out. It fueled me to edit more wedding photos. I managed to get through probably about 100 of the photos since then :)

Maternity

So in about a month or so I will be taking my first set of maternity photos. Saying I'm nervous is an understatement. But, I spent a good while tonight looking on http://www.deviantart.com/ at other photographer's maternity shots. I got so many amazing ideas and was awed by some of the amazing photography that I saw. I'm even more hyped up than I was about taking these photos. I can't wait. I can only hope they all work out. Now, if only I had a studio to work in as well... Don't get me wrong, I love doing outdoor photos with all the different places to go. But sometimes, a studio is a sure way of getting certain shots that just don't always work out outside. I'm thinking of creating a makeshift studio in my apartment. I'll be able to tear it down and set it up when needed. Yet, I have no clue what all I need for a studio. Does anyone have any ideas??? I could really use them. I'm still in the learning stage....wait, who am I kidding, I'll always be learning when it comes to photography. I just hope that someday, I'll be able to help someone else expand their knowledge and abilities with photography.

Wedding Bliss

So it turns out I love photographing weddings. It doesn't matter that it can take all day of walking around, standing, focusing, and whatnot. Weddings are always filled with bliss. It's a magical time when people come together and share their happiness. May 28, 2011 I helped a friend photograph a beautiful wedding. It was a Rouse wedding in Morristown, TN. It was a spectacular day filled with laughter and even tears(but only of happiness now!).

Mom-bride even saved some time for her precious little one :)

These precious moments of love between the two happened all night long, even when they weren't posing for the camera.

Yet, the only part of the entire evening that made me tear up was the father-daughter dance. It never fails. This is the one event that always tugs on a piece of me.e
